As the year has almost come to its end we are heading towards our last bout of the year. And as 2011 has been so phenomenal we want to thank our fans and supporters. Therefore we have some very special things awaiting you guys. First of all we will welcome the Central City Rollergirls from Birmingham for the first time. These girls belong to the best UK leagues. Great derby action guaranteed!
Secondly, the brand new 21st Century Beetle will be presented exclusively that very evening - Rollergirlz-style, of course. Our sponsor Volkswagen will give you the chance to take a look at this nice little sportster.
On top, Volkswagen will raffle off some test drives with the new Beetle.
And as that is not enough: a Rollergirlz auction with great stuff will be held, as well. The auction proceeds will support our national players trip to the first Roller Derby World Cup in Toronto December 1st - 4th.

Afterwards you will have the opportunity to raise your glass with the Rollergirlz at the after bout party at Goldmark's.

Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz won their nearly sold-out match against Glasgow's Irn Bruisers by 111:65, continuing their current winning streak.
From the very start it was a tough and exciting game, the Glaswegians were obviously determined to bring this one home. But Stuttgart's months of hard work paid off, seeing them in the lead most of the time.
A very unfortunate interruption of gameplay was caused by the fractured leg of Stuttgart's Lady Die A. Bolic. She was rushed to hospital for surgery - we all wish her the very best and a speedy recovery.

A big thank you goes out to all our fans, supporters, helping hands and families!
See you all next time!

It's bout time!It's bout time!

"Ready to board!" we will be when the the Irn Bruisers of the Glasgow Roller Girls set sail for Stuttgart to challenge the Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz All-Stars. We've battened down the hatches, run a shot across the bow and now let's see who'll be hangin' from the yardarm in the end.
Be there when we enter the fray against the Scots - Roller Derby action with tough women on skates, high speed and plenty of body checks all inclusive!
Once again, there will be a raffle with great prizes, and afterwards you will have the opportunity to raise your glass with the Rollergirlz at the after bout party at Goldmark's. Savy?

In their first away bout Stuttgart's B-Team wins over Helsinki. Final score 108:105!

Next home bout will be on July 16th against Glasgow Roller Girls! Watch out for more details!

AdieuAdieu

As they say, you can't always win. Apparently, the Paris Roller Girls thought so, too, and grilled the Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz' B-Team before a capacity audience. While in the past year the Stuttgart girls - partly in varying team constellations - came off as winner in all bouts, the Paris girls' play didn't bode well for our team from the start. The Stuttgart girls unfortunately often lost sight of the opposing jammer, who jumped through the pack quickly, scoring point by point. Strategically versed, our guest team extended their lead to a 30:96 into half-time.
At the beginning of the second period, the Stuttgart girls seemed much more sorted out and the match got more balanced. They managed to get lead jammer status more often now, but the opposing jammers were all too often close on their heels. As a consequence there was a series of rather short jams. The blockers on Stuttgart's team also succeeded in holding the Paris jammers back in the pack a few times, therefore Paris couldn't score as many points in the second period. Still, as hard as the Stuttgart girls fought, they had to accept a 47:139 defeat in the end.
Kudos to our girls, first and foremost to the five new team members who played their first bout after a short training period.

142:34 were the final numbers on the score board at the bout against the Lincolnshire Bombers, the English team the Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz All-Stars had opened the new season with. At their first home match after the victory of the German Championship, an enthusiastic capacity audience watched the Stuttgart girls dominating the game from the start with strong tactics. Our blockers controlled the speed of the pack all along, hence supported their own fast and agile jammers whilst making sure that the opposing jammers were given a hard time getting through the pack. Several times the Bombers' jammers got stuck behind the Rollergirlz' walls, a formation of blockers skating closely side by side. Accordingly, the Bombers had some troubles and made their first point only after 15 minutes playtime.
Both teams fought with great determination and placed hard blocks, supported by an audience who showed excellent sportsmanship by celebrating our girls and also each point our guests scored. The atmosphere was awesome, so thanks for that, thank you to all the fans, friends, to all the helping hands, our sponsors and last but not least a big thank you to the Lincolnshire Bombers Roller Girls! They actually came all the way from Lincoln on a bus - thank you for a magnificent start into the new season!

Our next home game will be May, 14 at SpOrt Stuttgart, where our B-Team will continue the triumphant success. With the Paris Rollergirls we are receiving a French team for the very first time. Be there or be square!

Love, your Rollergirlz

svrg_siegerfoto_rolldmc_web.jpg

On December 11, the Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz and the Berlin Bombshells competed in a nerve-racking finale for the title at the first German Roller Derby Championship. Both teams had qualified for the final bout in the preliminary rounds on the same day, taking a clear lead against the Devil Dolls from Essen, Hanse-Connection from Hamburg and Bremen and the Barockcity Roller Derby Girls from Ludwigsburg and Kaiserslautern.

In the past two years, our teams faced each other twice on the track. Both times we were able to beat the Bombshells, but during the preliminary bouts, it became rather obvious that this time it wouldn't be easy; the girls from Berlin performed well tactically. Apparently, they had practised a lot, and on top of it they had the home field advantage. We got more nervous by the minute.
In the filled arena, shortly before the opening whistle, you could almost touch the tension. Numerous fans of Berlin and Stuttgart made it clear who they were cheering for and started their own competition in chanting, and a large number of Roller Derby fans worldwide followed the spectacle online, when the starting whistle blew at 8.30 p.m.
During the first few jams, Berlin's new strength became apparent quickly. The ladies from the capital managed to extend their lead, but Stuttgart was on their heels, fighting for point by point and saved themselves with only a small deficit at 52:50 into the halftime break.
During the second half, both teams proved resilience and entered into a neck-and-neck race unheard of in Roller Derby Germany. Before the last jam, the audience was clearly on edge as Stuttgart had the edge over Berlin with merely 7 points. The final jam resembled a thriller. Everybody in the arena was completely caught up in the excitement of the moment. The Berlin jammer gained the lead and scored, but Stuttgart's jammer followed hard on her heels, regained ground and was in front of her competitor when the final whistle blew.

Unimpressed by boos from Berlin fans and paper cups raining down on the track, we claimed the championship title as first German Champions in Roller Derby. Our fans thanked us in their own way, in the middle of Berlin, singing "Stuttgart is much more beautiful than Berlin", a song which, by the way, is still stuck in our heads.

The event was only clouded by a Berlin fan from the "Bombshells Ultras", who let himself be carried away to the point of getting physical towards a Stuttgart fan, who had grabbed the flag of the Swabian team. Running around the track, waving the flag, the man got attacked by the Berlin fan and crashed on the concrete. As it turned out later, he had suffered a severe shoulder injury and had to be taken to hospital. In this context, we want to point out that neither we nor the Berlin Bombshells support such aggressive behaviour, and will not tolerate it at our bouts.

We want to congratulate all teams, first and foremost the Berlin Bombshells for winning second place, and thank everybody for this great event and the efforts they put in. Thanks to all our fans, the resident, the non-resident and the ones who travelled to see us for your vociferous support. You made us hang in there!

Ladies & Gents,

it is time to announce the birth of our second team: The SVRG Rookies!
Since summer 2009 loads of new blood joined our league and strong-willed, as we are, we decided to put them through a winter full of hard practice. The women who survived it are now ready to hit the track for the first time. Their opponents will be the Hell City Rollers, another fresh team from Helsinki/ Finland. We are proud to be able to now publish the dates of all home games this year. As you can see, we are improving and decided to not keep you waiting, although a little suspension never did anybody any harm. This year we have some changes regarding the games. Since so many new skaters joined us over the last year and are now eager to play, we will host two additional games of our rookie team. But the season opens on march 27 with the long awaited game of our all-star team playing the Berlin Bombshells. Further informations about this bout will follow soon. "It's bout time!" The Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz invite you to this
year's final home bout.

For the first time the Stuttgart team faces the 'Brawl Saints' a selection team of the London Rollergirls (who must not be mistaken with the London Rockin' Rollers who we played three times already). Among with the Stuttgart Girlz the London Rollergirls are the oldest league in Europe and their All Star team just won Roll Britannia - Europe's first roller derby tournament - and may therefore call themselves European champions. Like the LRG All Star team the Brawl Saints are still unbeaten. Therefore the battle of the European roller derby pioneers promises to be a fast-paced and hard-fought game. After the bout the girls will celebrate the season final with you at the Universum Bar from 10 p.m.

SVRG & HARBOR GIRLS VICTORIOUS IN BERLIN!SVRG & HARBOR GIRLS VICTORIOUS IN BERLIN!

Dear fans an and friends,
on Sat, April 28th. the Berlin Bomshells held their first bout after one year training. Besides their top player, Diane Rott, from San Francisco's B.ay A.rea D.erby Girls, it was their first bout and they rocked as hell.
Our mixed team of SVRG and Hamburg's Harbor Girls fought a tough game against the Berlin Bomshells. The fact that we send out five total newbies on our team made it an even game which was nerve-wracking and close until the end.
Big thanks to the 3 girls from Hamburg and to Berlin for being such a great host.
Big props to their refs, who were not on skates and proved good nerves!

Final Score: Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz/ Harbor Girls 96 - Berlin Bombshells 89.

Hugs & Stitches,
Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz

Times are getting exciting for The Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz. On Nov. 22nd we are heading abroad  over to GB to bout against the Birmingham Blitz Derby Dames for the first time. After the tight game against The London Rockin' Rollers in September we were training hard and we are positive to bring this victory home to Stuttgart.
So if you are around you should check this out!

If you are interested in more news you should sign up for our newsletter as there are lots of great things coming up.
On Nov. 28th, 10:30 pm, there will be a feature on German-French TV station ATRE Tracks. They made some footage at our last bout against LRR, so don't miss this. Also, our next bout in Stuttgart is coming up in January 2009.

81:76! Damn...81:76! Damn...

..that was close! On Saturday, the Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz were defeated for the first time but as it was close and as we love our derby sisters of the London Rockin' Rollers it wasn't too painful watching them take The Golden Skate over the canal. We are already planning on getting it back next year, so don't miss this revenge next year in London!!!
Despite the defeat we licked our wounds quickly and move on to the next challenge as for November 22nd our next bout against the Birmingham Blitz Derby Dames is scheduled. Check our homepage for more news.

We want to thank all of our sponsors, helpers, friends & families for their help and support as well as all our fans for coming and cheering for us.
